Default XC auto transport

I may be shipping my next Land Cruiser from AZ to NY. I recall that Intercity is the favorite around here. Any others to consider? Do I really need enclosed transport if I know I'm going to be driving it in bad weather?

I cannot fully recommend FEDEX Auto Transport. Although they took great care of the car, their communication was misleading and borderline deceptive. They made promises they didn't keep until they got the car loaded, then they kept pushing the timeline and were almost a week late. Fortnately, the car was delivered in good condition.

I had good luck with FedEx. They showed up on time and delivered as promised, and the car arrived in good shape.

I have used both Reliable Carriers and InterCity. Both were excellent. I do not think you need an enclosed carrier for shipping a daily driver Land Cruiser. Save the money for some upgrades.

My experience with Intercity was not good and I used them due to the good things stated on this board!

tkids, can you elaborate?

Does Intercity (or any of the others) provide open carriage, or just enclosed?

Thanks for the help.

i've used my dealership to bid and help arrange deliveries. that way the shipper has more to lose than just my business. it's a good way to gain leverage and pretty costs the dealership nothing if you pay on your own.

Demoise delivered my new (to me) C2S cab this morning. The car was in great shape, their communication was fantastic and the price was cheaper than other quotes I received. Highly recommend.

+1 on DeMoise - they carried my 356 from Fla to CA and I have a half dozen friends who have used them to, always perfect.

Got a quote from Demoise ($1800, plus fuel surcharge if applicable), waiting on quotes from FedEx and Intercity.

Any bad experiences, other than the expected late and over budget? I've seen some posts here about tire/wheel damage, and leaking fluids from the vehicle above, but can't remember where those happened.

It's not special, just an '06 that's in really good shape. I'm thinking about driving it XC myself. But the math may not support it:

2500 miles
15 mpg
$4/gal gas
167 gallons
$667 in gas

Plus the wear and everything else that can go wrong. Plus 5 days away to get it home. In the end, I might just fly out RT to inspect it and ship it back.
