Remove your cans and find a muffler shop who will weld a stainless pipe 1"-2" between the inlet and outlets of the mufflers.

Your car seems to always be up on jacks. Hope you spend as much time driving it...

BTW, sounds great.

9,000km since November. I love my car. I have called the guy about my calipers every day this week because I was going through Porsche withdrawl.

I bought a set of mufflers and will do the hack in the next few mos. So, a few questions to those who have done the 997 "Gundo":

I did the "Fister" hack on my 996 and really liked it. Just enough extra rumble without a drone and not too loud.

How does the "Gundo" hack on the 997 compare? Shall I go with 1" or 2" pipe.

Any thoughts from those who have heard both hacks and both sized pipes?

Thanks for your observations and thoughts.

My neighbour has heard many exhausts during his time in the Porsche club and has the Motorsports sound option on his 993. He says that the 2" is just right.

Under 3K RPM it's barely noticeable. Over that it sounds quite exotic. I have to say you really can't go wrong with this modification, especially if you're using a spare set of cans. This is THE BEST bang for the buck mod on these cars by FAR.

Steven, I also did the MK II mod (Fister) to my stock 996 3.6L mufflers. If I had a 997 without PSE, I would do the Gundo mod and use the 2" pipe. If you going to do it, this would give you the most sound differential without it being "muffler by-pass" loud.

Hi, Tim, I remember your conversion well, as well as the "deconversion" when you sent your carback (sad). I suspect that the 2" pipeis what I will end up doing, although I wouldloveto hear from someone who had them both (996 and 997).

gundo hack was best thing i ever did to my 997.1 and 997.2, needed the center bypass on .2 to make it sexy sounding tho.

I have searched unsuccessfully. Was there a thread with pics on how it is supposed to look like when done? And any other instructions? Thanks
