Reach for '09 CPO?
Hi All-
Been looking for a CPO 2006/07 c2s cab with Tip, SC, and heated seats. Car will be a 2nd car, fun weekend driver.
Came across a CPO 2009 c2 (non s) PDK, SC for $80k. Looking for some input. This seems like a 'deal', but may be first of many at this price point?
On Porsche site 2006 c2s go from $55K (Momentum Porsche) to $75K- 2007 c2s (Rusnak, Huntington).
Assuming a hopeful 10% on 2009 CPO that is $72k. Below asking on CPO 2007 models??!! WTF I even see 07 PP cars in excess of 09 CPOs. These usually have a priced for quick sale next to them. Huh?
Sweet spot for me seems to be $58-$60 k for 07 and $50-$52k for 06. The extra 12k or so from '07 for 09 would be a reach, but outside personal finances, this seems to be better 'deal' for long term. Especially factoring in PDK and possible warranty through 2015 on 09.
Also on a second note- I would like to take the car to a DE or 'track day' possibly and would like to hear the experiences of people with Tip or PDK. I know I'll need a hardtop and it's more for using the car to it's potential in a safe environment instead of racing on side roads. No need to post reply telling me to get a 6 speed to 'enjoy the car to its 'fullest'.
I'm not a track guy, just might venture out once or twice during ownership and Tip/PDK is mandatory.

Skip the Tiptronic if you can avoid it if you want an Auto. PDK is the way to go for auto fans. Keep in mind that these cars have wide ranging values because of the potential options list. If you buy a stripped car then it naturally will be on the severe low side at used car time. For those that are loaded up you will pay more--and should. Personally, I appreciate a loaded car. There is much that is overlooked when you buy a rock bottom car. I did it once or twice and missed a lot. Take your time, and keep on looking. There are many cars out there.

Dan/Edgy01-
Is 'stripped' 09 worth PDK at option levels listed below or too lightly optioned for your tastes?
Can you clarify a bit for me. 09 is not stripped to me, (PDK, SC, Bose, nav, power heated/ventilated, bluetooth). So in your opinion would this fall into stripped category? Many of the 07s don't have much more than (beyond 's' included features) this 09 non s.
These cars have 'similar' options and are good example of quandry for me.

It will be impossible for me to compare a loaded 09 (too much $$) with a loaded 07s, but I hear you saying PDK is most important. You make the call Dan; In this case with these two cars if you had to pick one, 09 yes?
Thanks in advance

How is a bare 2009 non s a better deal then a fully loaded 2007 c2s? The 2009 will get destroyed in resale value when the 991 comes out.
It'd go for the 2007 even with the tip. Assuming you will get "fair" prices of course.

uvgaal- 07 still appealing with these two examples? Not sure about "fair" prices. I'm aiming for 10% for comparisons while shopping. Assuming use up until warranty expiration, then sale. 2013 with 07, 2015 with 09 CPO.

look at his prices on 997.1, those will get crushed far more when new 991 comes out... but thats a year away.. 997.2 shouldnt "hit" that much when 991 announced.

Do we all buy our cars based on resale value?
I never really considered resale when I purchased all 5 of my Porsches. I based my purchase on what I wanted, the intention was, each would be my keeper.
Some, I kept for 14 years, 8 years, 10 years and finally only 3 1/2 years, with a pleasant surprise
at the trade in value of my 06S on my 09S.
Will the 09S be my final P-car???? I intend to joy the hell out of it and not worry about resale.

totally agree, I think the 997.2 will be ok given the new changes, especially the PDK over the tip. Also, if they change the car too much(see the other threads about wheelbase, etc), the 997.2 will be touted as one of the last 'real' 911's! These cars are majorly depreciable afterall!

There are several new 2009s 997S still in Porsche inventory these cars have money from the factory and the prices are great, unfortunately most are cabs.. I just bought an 09 "S" coupe instead of a used CPO car. The new one had a $20K discount.. The pricing was almost the same as a used and I was able to get it new. Search Porsche.com
