Radar Question
My wife got me a radar detector (cool wife) for valentines day. In the instructions it says some porsche windows have a film or coating that can be damaged by the suction cups that hold the radar detector. Anyone have any experience (issues) with theirs?
I have a 2007 997S with a Valentine1 mounted on the windshield just left of the mirror. No issues with the suction cup mount or the operation of the V1 in that location. I have not heard of this issue but maybe it is on the 997.2 or ???
No problem with our cars. That WAS a problem with earlier cars. Put some chapstick on the suction cup; it'll stick forever or until it's pulled off. Yes, you have to wipe the resulting smear (easy) but the detector will never fall.
The only concern I've ever had with radar detectors and window tinting relates to the kind of film you use. If you have a tint with metallic film it will cripple the range on your detector. I don't know if you got a V-1, but it has 2 antennas and the one pointing out the back window needs to work as well as the one facing the windshield.
Since the topic is radar question, I have one concerning my sti driver(beltronics). It was working fine in my bmw, But in my 997.2 the laser alerts non stop, everywhere. Therefore i had to disable the laser alerts, Is it broken and just a coincidence or is something setting it off, has anyone had this problem...
Thanks
