Default Time for a new Inspection Sticker - Tow Hook plate mount

After getting tired of risking double stick tape to hold my front license plate to get me through an inspection sticker, I decided to spend some money and get the high quality aluminum Mower Deck Axle Co. tow hook license plate mount.
It arrived promptly today, took no time to install, looks pretty slick and will serve it's purpose well for 10 minutes. If I had to leave a front plate on permanently, this is the mounting solution I would use.

I used the same when taking my car in for inspection (also MA).. I did use Dremel tool to cut down the screws so they don't poke out (see your 2nd pic)..

Probably doesn't make any difference, because it will only be on for 10 minutes..

Todd:

Have you ever gotten pulled over for not having a front plate? I've considered it but prefer not to give LE any reason whatsoever to impede my progress :-) You don't see much of a risk of that?

Yes, in NJ, in my home town...wouldn't let me off when I pulled out the tow hook plate to put back on.
Told him I had just had a repair to my clear bra and forgot to put back on...he said too bad...Nasty SOB.

I deliberately drive without a front license plate on most of my cars. I have proven on 3 instances that this is a great idea. Cops need to feel important when they pull you over for speeding, and twice for me, once for my wife they have given us front plate fix it tickets instead of speeding tickets. I have never been pulled over for not having a front plate, or being white.

Damn, I can see your front plate clearly in your avatar.

Yeah, I know. Funny thing is when I drove at The Glen last fall the pro photographer there caught a great shot of me rounding a turn with a few other 911s behind. I bought a large color print and framed it in my home office. My son comes in, takes a look and the first thing he says is, "Dad, you gotta lose the license plate." Next time for sure.

The bracket is super solid and there's plenty of clearance. It would take someone pulling their car up against the unsupported side of the bracket for it to push far enough to touch paint. Yes, that does happen in parking lots everyday.
Anyway, it is a good idea, one I thought of too, so I cut the screws down and made them smooth. I got my Inspection Sticker today, the front plate is off until the next inspection, but it was still fun playing with my air cutting tool.
