Oil Light 8 times in first 8,000 miles

I have also added 6 quarts of oil since I got my 09 C2S, and it has 6700 miles now. I mentioned this to dealer and show them my documentation, so they told me to come in to keep this documented and my car will be topped off for free. They also wrote up my oil usage history and sent it to Porsche N.A. I was told to go back to the dealer in 500 miles for a checkup.
Offhand I asked why my 09 consumes this much oil while my previous 07 stop oil consumptions after 3000 miles, and he said I was very lucky to get a 911 that did not consume oil. So, I guess I ran out my luck this time!

At 1700 miles my 09 has used about 1.5 quarts.
I have read a lot of posts concerning oil usage. This is my 4th Porsche and the only one that has used any oil. Yes my pipes are sooty, however it is starting to run better the more I drive it and I do not baby it either.
I think it's important to point out that the DFI engine has a much higher compression ration than the 997.1 engine. This is a potentially bad scenario because when you have a (green) new engine with such high compression 12.5 to 1 + rings that are not seated this can = oil consumption. Also Porsche is no longer hot testing the DFI engines any longer as they did in the 997.1 cars.
It may be that some of the owners that have reported little or no usage have be more aggressive in breaking their cars in out of the gate and therefore have better ring seal.

Mine is one of the ones that uses oil. I'm not worried apart from the fact that the .2 cars check the oil with the engine running, and must be warm so you can't take the Dan approach.......

But were I the OP I'd certainly keep accurate records of how much oil I had to add and when at what time and mileage to have this info at the ready should oil consumption not improve.
Sincerely,
Macster.

997.2 GTS New to me
First ever post since joining not only the fine company of the site, but of ownership.
Picked up a fine example of 2012 GTS, CPO with 8300 one owner miles (from Autohaus in Lancaster PA) 3 mos ago.
Less than 1000mi put on since and smell burning oil after every run, mild or aggressive. Noted to dealer after test drive and was told a little spillage must have occurred. I’m not a DIY at all when it comes to this car, but will check level to see if consumption is an issue. Just glad to hear this isn’t a rare occurance
