What I do? In the Spring or whenever I really get into detailing the car I yank the filter and carefully blow it off with compressed air then put it back in. Never actually replaced one. Gee. Maybe I should replace it, huh?

Air filter $30, Pollen $60... guess you gotto see if it's worth it.

Clogged Air Filter definitely affects performance. Not sure if blowing air can determine how much filteration is affected. I might inspect this spring and change if too dirty.

You can get a quality charcoal filter OEM online for not much money. It's an easy job, and worth doing every 1-2 yrs.

Cabin air filter inside front compartment, adjacent the battery. Air filter is in the engine compartment.

I've been told that to do that is not a good idea (by a mechanic). In the grand scheme of things they're not that expensive.

As with many things, the determination is "it depends." If you live in a sheltered area you can go longer. If you're out here in the midst of ash-fall (like I am) you need to probably do it every 12-18 months.

Good point though about cost and convenience! We should all probably just buy a couple next time at the dealer. Then when you find yourself messing with it you have one to reinstall.
I'll have to ask my mechanic why he recommends against reverse blowing them out. I know he doesn't make a dime on whether more are sold or not, and he usually gives really good advice.

trunk, under passenger side plastic panel next to the battery, almost under windshield. you`ll need to unscrew plastic arm that holds it in place and to push that filter in carefully may require some effort. but it is simple enough.

Joe--You will have to become the new "enforcer" because in Rennlist's infinite wisdom, they got rid of the last one.

These pollen filter sukkers aren't cheap!

Air filter for engine is 1/2 the cost.

FYI, Suncoastmotorsports.com is the source show here.
