Durametric service reset - new interval too long (2 yrs/ 20k mi?)

So I recently did my oil change and used durametric to reset the service indicator.
Checking in the computer messages to see what the service interval is I see its indicating about 20k miles and 2 years from now. I find that rather odd, as I'd expect the next one in 1 year, 10k miles.
It was certainly the case that when fiddling with durametric's software, there was nothing about the service reset option that allowed me to specify when the next reminder should come on.
Is this the normal experience folks are getting with the durametric software for resetting their own service indicators?

The standard service interval for 997.1 is 2yrs/20k miles, alternating minor/major services
For 997.2 it reverts back to 1yr / 10k miles
Perhaps because DI require more servicing?

The folks at Durametric indicated 20k/2yr was the default reset for the computer.
But that doesn't change the fact that there are 10k/1yr events as well. My 'service due now' notice came on after 1 year, it was time for the oil change. So what was I to do?
The proper solution is that Durametric allows the user to set the interval (if sold outside of the USA), or set it to 1 year each time. As it is now, the next reminder will happen a year late for the real 2yr service date.
I'm assuming Porsche specifically went about hiding the ability for software like Durametric to set the service interval. The result, of this, of course, is that the service interval tracking in the on board computer is now totally useless as a reminder as I'll just need to reset it whenever it comes on (back to another 2 years) and independently of that, do whatever service is due at the times they are do. Nuts.
So I'll revise my recommendation on oil change for the time being... don't get Durametric, just have the dealer do the change ... which I'm sure is what Porsche wants.

I don't see why it matters. I find those service interval reminders annoying, and it isn't hard to keep track of your last service. Just keep your service records in a folder. It's a great thing to show to someone buying your car.
Also, the dealers in LA will not reset the service indicator without you paying for a service. FWIW, this would not make me pay $800 for a basic service at a dealer.

I've purchased 2 Porsches and an Audi from my NorCal dealer. It's hard for me to imagine them refusing to reset my service indicator as they have been quite reasonable generally in the past. But if they did refuse I'd make it clear, politely of course,
that they just sold me a car for the last time.
