Remove all the other screws and replace them with a similar screw. IOW, all screw heads will match if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise I'd just go to my local hardware store and get the correct SIZE screw and not worry about the head not matching. Middle way: take a conforming screw from where it is less seen and but the non-conforming screw there. No biggie IM_H_O. If they're black "annodized" and you can't find that finish, just hit the new one with a black sharpie.

I can't believe that a dealer could not help you. The Porsche Parts Catalogue on the Porsche.com website has a P/N for just about every screw/bolt on the car.
I looked at the interior parts on the PDF file but not exactly sure what I was looking for to identify your missing screw (my car is in winter storage, so can't easily verify part/location).

I tried:

ACE Hardware (huge bins of screws, but not Torx which has unique threads

Home Depot

Nobody caries Torx screws. They all carry Torx tools.

How about an auto parts store instead of home improvement...

Yeah. Nuts. Oh well. Figure this way, Just a guess but: Porsche does not mfgr their own screws. They order from suppliers who produce huge numbers of screws. There's gotta be a retailer on the internet. Start Googling!

OTOH, John (above) makes a good point, if it's in the parts catalog Porsche MUST be able to get them!

One of two screws... were they the same size? Take the one you still have to the auto parts store.

Finding metric fasteners is quite difficult in the USA. With the right place it's a snap. Where are you? (You never say). I could give you a place to go but can't without a town.

What year car and what exactly did you lose? The reason I ask is my change holder attaches with only one screw (from within the inside of the CC Rear), so I'm thinking you have some other type car or some other change "bin". I have a fully exploded parts catalog - all the screws have part numbers.

There's a storage shelf in the Center Console Front below the PCM system that uses two screws - is that it?

If you can describe the part more fully and the year of the car, I can probably find the part number.

You can attempt to look on http://www.renntech.org to see if they list it. I would first take it with me to see if someone can match it.

More like a small coin tray, which as a part is apparently called the "Insert Locking Device" since it is also what the storage lid latches onto.

I live in Ohio.

"There's a storage shelf in the Center Console Front below the PCM system that uses two screws - is that it?"

Yes that's it - held in by 2 screws on each side - when the scews are in tight, they hold the bin in nice and tight.

When installing my Passport radar (post to folow) - I dropped one of the screws and it disappeared down into the console area - I just can't find it.

I did find a place on the internet in California that sells Torx screws:

- I talked with guy at lenght and we agreed on the type of screw it was based on a description of diameter, head, # of threads, and finish.

I bougth some extras from him (4 scews with shipping came to $20).

I recieved them and gues what - they don't fit.

Torx tools are very commmon.

Don't loose your Torx scews they are like the Holy Grail if you try to find them.

If any one has an extra scew or can direct me to the correct part number or supplier I would be very gratful.

.
Makes you think the Torx screws are only used in factory manufacturing with the specialized hand tools they use on an assembly line.

The fact that we can buy the Torx tools says there's a demand for unscrewing screws holding together manufactured stuff.

May I please suggest that your car will NEVER wind up in a concours competition where every screw, piece of wiring, trim component, and etc. will be scrutinized in a competition for an award? Also, the minute we drive these cars off the lot on delivery day they start the inexorable process of becoming old and used. Just trying to help.

Found a great site, located the exact screw and its out in the mail today.

$0.23

You need the exact thread, the look of the screw does not matter.
