Thanks everyone for your comments regarding Carrera vs CarreraS. They have been bery helpful. Leaning towards the base Carrera. Anyone have any data on the "major engine failures" and when they occur? Is there a certain mile mark that they tend to occur? After a certain period of miles do the stats play in favor of "not" having? Currently deciding on an 05 Carrera with 30k miles (Certified until june 2011).
Thanks again for the help!

There is no real evidence of a link between mileage and engine failure. "You spends your money and you takes your chances."
However, I would give serious consideration to a 997 from any year other than 2005. There were still many bugs in those transition cars. Most issues were corrected in the first half of the MY06 cars.

However, it is my understanding late build '05's are better than
the early build '05's.
