Default 12V switched accessory power - what is your source?

I am looking to hardwire a radar unit to a 12V source (controlled by ignition source).

What have others used?

Cigarette lighter (not an option, I use a battery charger here).

Canabalize the 12 V accesory plug in the passenger wheel well (I never use this anyway)?

Run a wire directly to the fuse box?

Other potential options?

If you've got autodimming mirrors there's switched power in the light cluster/rear view mirror right there where you want to put the radar detector. That's what I did in my C2S.

In my current car without autodimming mirrors I had to run a wire to the fuse box.

Control unit for the radar is mounter at the floor.

Looking for a closer option, rather than running a wire from the dome light all of the way down.

Fuse box.
When doing a V1 with remote (column mouted) you also want a source lower.

Proably what I wil do is:

- attach female spade on to un-used (+) terminal in fuse box (slot without a fuse that is + only with the ignition on)

- run a wire with an in-line fuse to my unit

- attach ground to an approriate source

You should look into using an "add-a-circuit" plug instead. Makes it a lot easier to add a circuit!
