Default Help Removing Trunk Plastic

Trying to remove the big plastic section next to the battery compartment. I have removed the 8 small torx screws but this the panel is still being held in by this little buckle thingy which I have pointed a white arrow to. Any help to remove this piece would be great, thanks. As you can see I can slide out the center piece but this does not seem to release anything

trying to get access to the grommet to pass a wire into the battery compartment for my battery tender powerlet socket that I am installing up front in the bumper area. Next question, how to remove this bracket to gain access to the grommet which is behind the box ( Nav unit ? ) which it is holding down ?

Yes, I just saw the pics...great job. Now all we need is how you ran the wire from the bumper to the grommet in the tub. Hopefully, you did not have to remove the bumper. Also, I have an 08 and will have to look for the rubber grommet plug you used to run the wire into the tub.

Thanks

Harvey

I'm at a loss, after you slide the rod out, how do you get the plastic piece off? I've tried prying a bunch of different ways and it won't budge.

What is that black box? I have it in my car too but do not have navigation. So now I'm confused?

From what I've read it is called a "carbon canister." It is part of the fuel system; help it vent (see link below).

https://www.renntech.org/forums/topi...ister-removal/

It caused me to give up this project; I used every tool and curse in my arsenal and could not get it out. I'm going to call shops tomorrow to see if someone will install the gear I've already purchased. I'm replacing everything (head, amp, speakers) and probably they'll just have to put the amp under the passenger seat because even though I have plenty of room to route cables from the cabin to the battery area I can't find a path to the trunk other than the access hold blocked by this box.

This is the second time I've failed to accomplish a DIY project on this car. Very frustrated.

Thank you! And sorry to hear about your project. I have the sound package plus in my car and they have the amp mount lower, standing upright down by the tire repair tools go. So those wires are run somehow, I haven't chased them but maybe another way in?

Mine is 2007 C4 with sound package plus. Amp is mounted vertically against the back wall of the trunk, below this canister. The wires run up the side in a chase behind the carpet and then enter the battery compartment through a grommet behind this canister.

I was planning to run RCA from head to amp and new wires to speakers ( 3-way componest set up front, 2-way 3.5 inch coaxial in rear). This seems to be the only passage that can handle all the wires. I thought about just using what is already there but I am not confident I know which wires are which.

if you get that canister out please post how because I might take one more swing before throwing in the towel.
