Have a garage; 3 in fact, but it's not a garage queen. I had parked it outside before the weather got nasty, and didn't bother moving it once it started snowing. Last I checked, neither the snow or cold hurt me or the car.
Yeah, snow and freezing, the cars are built for it. Severely tested under such conditions. OTOH, That stuff's okay if you live close to the arctic circle.
Everywhere else it should be under a lightweight cover in a garage with battery maintainer (just kidding).

Actually, the car does better outside in the cold. Warmer temps (found in a garage) will allow the salts found in road clearing chemicals to attack the car faster than the extreme cold temps.

I took to whenever temps got above freezing taking car to DIY car wash which provided heated water through the wash wand and used this to rinse car top and bottom even getting down on ground and spraying underneath the car.

No harm done as long as you drive it regularly. It's designed for these type of conditions so no need to baby it. I would be more concerned with high heat and humidity in a tropical climate "eating" the car than cold dry weather.
I always kept my 2005 997 in the garage whenever the weather was bad (pretty much a sunny day only car), so then I got my new 997.2 C4S 3 months ago and decided I'd drive it all year round. Mounted up a spare set of snow tires - everything was great, until I went to clean it. Yesterday I spent almost 3 hours cleaning all the road grime off my car including close to an hour clay barring it from end-to-end. What I noticed is that this car kicks up more crap off the road than any other car I've ever driven in bad weather. Today the car is spotless, waxed and sitting in the garage for the next sunny day. I'm going back to the VW for the crappy day car, although I will say the C4S handled amazingly well in snow, but not worth al the time it takes to clean it down.
