Default Will removing an underbody panel allow acess...

to the area behind the front bumper (designated in red)?

It seems that there is no acess driectly under the bumper itself in the midline. I suspect that that black strip of plastic directly under the bumper, has bumper plastic itself underneath.

If I remove the underbody panel near the front of the wheelwell, will I have a direct path to the space in question?

Making an almost baseless guess here, but from the way other things are put together on the car? I'd say the whole bumper has to come off. It seems every cubic inch of space is accounted for in an exacting design and assembly process-- it's like we couldn't be that lucky that there's more than one way to gain access to something, ya know?

You'll have to remove the bumper. What are you up to?

No--the bumper has to come off. as you can see in the shot (mine) of the bottom front of the 997 you have a rigid stamped steel part surrounded by closure panels. Only by removing the front bumper can you remove that center panel (seen from the front of the car).

I am installing a hidden radar behind the panel.

After lloosening the under side of the bumper I found enough room to get the unit where it needs to be.

When I am all done I will post the complete install of the Passport 9500ci unit.

Depending on what you are installing, the bumper does NOT have to be removed.

My K40 system has sensors all over the front and rear, and the rear was removed to feed some wires to a special location, but the front is NOT needed to come off to do it right. Just need a good installer.

Where are you located?

Just a tip--you will lose a lot of early warning with your receiver antenna mounted there. RADAR is line of sight and it's all about early warning. Putting your Rx down next to the road will take significant early warning off your system.

Definitely mount radar antenna as high as possible.
