A couple of years ago one of our PCA club members checked into Jasper Park Lodge (Alberta) and left his Boxster for valet parking. The kid took it on a joy ride up a mountain road; slid off the road and wrote off the car. The lodge bought the guy a new car and I hear he gets VERY preferential treatment to this day...

That was the exception to the (compensation) rule. Usually, damage is done and it is never fully compensated. No valets for me.

my rule, tip the manager so that your car is parked on one spot and you get to lock it and take the key w/ you... valet parking is fact of life in nyc.
