Wow! Good for you. You worked hard and you've chosen to reward yourself. Congratulations.

Indeed, congratulations is an appropriate and welcoming response. As stated above, it's a new and most likely positive experience for the new buyer, just like when a baby is welcomed.

It is simply reaching one of life's goals. I know it's quite a luxury in the big picture and sometmes hard to believe I have a 911. It is a combination of luck and hard work... a prize given to myself.
Good on you! I can relate- turning 55 on Saturday- but at least had my first used Porsche at 46ish (and it's time again in 2010)

money is no object when driving one of these cars... we have guys spending $35-40 k to drive 944s to their specs. i have that much in my 968 and i haven't even put the supercharger on it yet... for all of you who are driving these magnificent 997s... what frigging awesome cars, but why can't they get them to stop rattling and buzzing without breaking the bank on a little extra fiberglass insulation inside the dash and door panels, etc, ??

What does it matter? Seems like a pointless thing to get in a tizzy about.

Why congratulate anyone for any reason by your logic. Someone graduates, no congratulations, so does the majority of this country. Someone gets a promotion? Most companies promote roughly 10-20% of their staff annually. Nothing special in that. Someone gets married, yep another one that just about everyone else does. Just about 50% of the time they fail so congratulations were never in order to begin with. Just won the lottery, well they play it twice a week. There's potential that two people are winning per week. Nothing special in that.

If you don't see someone buying a car that most of us have dreamed up since being little kids a congratulations deserving event well there's nothing we can do for you. I for one will congratulate just about anyone for anything. I'm all for positive reinforcement.

Dictionary says congratulations means "an expression of praise for an achievement or good wishes on a special occasion."

It's kinda like buying a Steinway. There's something special about a Porsche (or ferrari, etc. too)
