Default New To Porsche & New To Forum

After driving mainly Corvettes since 1991, (2 Fererari's and a Viper in there also), I just traded my 08 Corvette for an 09 Carrera S Cab 6 speed, pretty fully equipped. I have had the car 5 days and really enjoy it, especially here in Southern California. Any Porsche tips that can be offered to me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Welcome aboard! You're fortunate to have found this forum. There is much information that may be gleaned from it. Suggest you spend some time looking throughout the archives as there is a vast amount of information in there from others how have treaded before you!

What color is your car? Aren't Cabriolets perfect for SoCal?!

Welcome to the 997 Forum.

You will find this forum to be very active and there are
a number of very knowledgeable Porsche members who
are always happy to assist with questions.

As it appears you are a former Corvette owner, could you give
us a rundown of paraphernalia you carried with you on the passenger seat of your Vette? This would settle a previous debate on this forum.

Once again, congratulations on your Porsche 997 purchase and welcome aboard.

Welcome! I'm fairly new myself and also local to SoCal. But please do post some pics of your ride.

EDIT: And do search through the forum here, there's a wealth of information. I'm learning new things all the time, and I just found out today that there's a 3rd 12v outlet on the left passenger side under the glove box!

You do know that if he did carry those items before, he'd be carrying those same items in the 997 now.

To the OP, congrats and welcome. Be sure to share some pics!

Welcome to the Forum. Even though I have always been a P-car fan, I also drove an '08 Vette for a year - great car. It seems though that you, like me, prefer the all-in-the-rear magic of a 911.

I suggest you post your experience and comments on the new car as I do not know what you expect. We can then reply. Vettes are great cars (these days) but they are very different cars. The 11 is all about nimbleness, quick chassis response and finesse.

I guess I don't get out much. Never have driven a Corvette, nor a BMW, nor a Boxster...

That's OK Dan. I enjoyed my Vette experience but I'm back on the 11 fold.

Dan, you should ask for a Boxster as a loaner next time you're in for service. You must try it!
