Shared the Porsche experience with someone today
Well today a friend brought an older gentlemen over to discuss plans for building a roof-deck on my house. He saw the 997 in the garage when he came in and immediately struck up a conversation about his love for Formula 1 and how he often goes to 24 hour LeMans etc.
We ended up shooting the **** for about an hour. Just trading advice and found out he once hit rock bottom and almost put a bullet in his head. He's had a hard life. Anyway we clicked, so I asked if he wanted to take the 911 out on some backroads. We took some coastal back roads and hit some high speeds, lots of fun. He had never been in an 997, only driven a 930 a couple times back in the 80's. I threw him the keys to drive back. He loved it, thought it was such a rush, he couldn't get over the stability, braking, speed, sound and just all out performance. Had a total blast and it really seemed to lift his spirits. It's amazing how therapeutic the 911 can be, was nice to share the experience.

A friend of mine's dad owned 10+ Porsche's in his day.
A couple thanksgivings ago, I took him for a spin on my 996 cab, he was in his 80's at the time and no longer able to drive due to deteriorated eyesight, but that didn't stop him from getting a kick out of it.
Victor passed away about a year later, but I enjoy the memory of us letting it a bit loose on a quiet country road and the smile that brought us both.
