This is one of the most "Porsche" Porsches that have been launched in a long time. This will be an unbelievable car to drive.

I've been keeping my eye out for a '89 or '94 Speedster for a fun weekend car, and a 997GT3 for reliable track use. All of the sudden I have another option.

This is the kind of car that people say they want until it's time to put up the cash, and have to ask themselves if they will get enough use from the car to justify the purchase. The top is manual so that makes daily driving somewhat problematic. In this era of bluetooth and ipods how many people will buy this car w/o A/C and a radio? This is a great second (or third/fourth) car for fair weather weekends and AX/DE events if you've got the garage space and extra cars to make it work. The styling based on the photos seems strained, but it may look better in reality. This concept would have worked better w/ the Cayman IMHO. Maybe that's next?

I'm sure there will be a Cayman version...there have been rumors of something very similar for a while.

I guess I predicted that - see HERE.

I can see now poseurs flocking to dealers and placing orders loaded w/ AC, stereo, and other doodads adding 200lbs.

Looks great, but I'm a creature comforts guy - gotta have tunes and AC in GA is a must do. But it does look very cool.

I couldn't agree with you more but I'm still glad they're doing it. Maybe in 20 years these will be rare birds like the 964 Speedsters with everybody clamoring around for a basic one with no AC and no radio.

The Australian mini-site shows A/C fitted plus mentions alloy doors. Assume the doors are for all markets.

I think it's interesting. But unless the thing is gonna be a dedicated track car, I'd lose my mind without a cup holder or a radio! And no A/C? Again,....dedicated track car fine.
The weight of 2811 pounds is not far off from the original Boxster at 2760. The difference of course is that the 986 had 201 hp and this has 320!

Looks like you can add back all the creature comforts if you build one on the Porsche UK site. US build not available yet.

It's the first Boxster that I've liked the looks of. The double hump on the back and the spoiler improve the rear significantly. Love the old school decal on the side. It also has proper Porsche performance.
