I have been assured the extra small bracket they offer fits a 997 bumper. I haven't bought one yet, but I inspected the design and agree that it would work on our cars.

If one is going to install the front plate... the 997.2 factory mounting plate is actually a good fit. It does not mount too high and it does not drop so low as to impede the air flow through the curved center channel to the side radiators. Covering the center opening will affect air flow.

Ok, naive question here but I have a 997 C4S, how would I determine if it is a "997.2"?? And how does a 997.2 mean/differ?

Any pics of the "997.2 factory mounting plate"?

Model designation is determined by the year your car was manufactured. What year is your car?

BTW, It is possible to have gotten delivery of a MY 2009 car in 2008. I got a 2006 car in Sept-2005 ("MY" is code for "model year").

does anyone know if the center black plastic section of the front bumper cover can be purchased separately from the bumper. I measured it out, and you could cut a 4" high square out of it and then attach the plate behind the bumper cover, so that the numbers would be visible from the front, but it would not adversely affect the aesthetics of the car. I don't want to cut my car to experiment, but if I could just get that part I would make a prototype and then maybe mount it on the car.

Are your referring to Part #3 here?

Also, anyone has insights on Part #21 and how that mounts?

Yes, part #3. that is the one I want to look for. Maybe if I can find one off of a discarded front bumper at the body shop, I do that proposed cutout to see how it would look with a plate fastened to the backside. If it looks alright it might be a pretty slick plate mounting option. the plate would be recessed in that little faux-radiator-scoop area, thereby not distubing the car's lines.

I too have had the same thought and this would be too cool for that purpose!
