05 997 CPO $40K Deal or no deal?
I was looking for a 996 CPO car with PSM, heated seats and Xenons (all good to have for long, dark Canadian winters) when I came across a 2005 997 CPO for just under $40K, Silver on black (my preferred combo) with bose, heated seats, Nav for PCM, Xenons, 49K miles. Is this a fair deal?
This will be a daily driver for me, including in the snowy winter, so comfort and reliability are important. Two full years of warranty also sounds good. Performance options are not that important to me as I have a track car for club racing. Thoughts?

49K miles. KBB lists excellent reseller value at $42K and private party value $36K to $38K but no CPO cars at that price. I guess the warranty has to be worth a fair bit ($2000 according to dealer rep).

A bit high on the miles. But it's appropriate for DD '05 I suppose.
The CPO is worth about $1500-2000. I'm sure that you will recover that cost at some point. So it's worth it.

I'm afraid too many people are just looking at the price tag. Any 997 is a terrific buy right now, with this economy. But I would bypass the 05 cars. There are always going to be issues with the first year's production that will come back to bite you. With all things being equal, I would hang on for awhile longer until a MY06 car approaches a price that you can afford. And once you get the car, be prepared to spend some money on it. What we're starting to see now are people who are putting crappy tires on these things to save a few bucks. The car will perform significantly different. Don't go cheap on yourself here.
