Default Oil Tube on 997 -- Does It Just Sit On The Engine?

Hello All,

I was looking at my engine last evening on my 06 997 and noticed
the oil filling lead in tube is just sitting loosely on top of the engine,
in the area where it is supposed to be. However, it is not
bracketed in and can be lifted--I presume this is normal, but
why would it not be solidly attached?

Thanks.

It routinely fits into a clip on the left side of the airfilter assembly. Sometimes they are a little hard to secure. Press down firmly.

Thanks for the information Dan. I'll press it down into place.

Mine does the same. Looks like there should be a clip around the tube...it appears to be missing. I've tried pressing it in place, no worky.

You really have to push hard on it to snap into its bracket.

With all the oil I put into my engine, I'm probably one of the most experienced at removing that tube and putting it back. It takes some real effort. (It seems like they could have designed it better). Put your glasses on, and look to see how it is supposed to clip on. You may have to turn the tube on its longitudinal axis a bit.

Sounds like you're bragging about how you use that hose Dan. Hmmmm.

Dave

Speaking of hoses, how can ANYONE compete with you and yours on Rennlist? It still brings tears to my eyes!
