tips on getting iPhone to sync contacts?
I have the Bluetooth option and the Porsche audio system recognizes my phone, but contacts have not downloaded. Anyone who solved this able to give me some tips?

On my 09 C4S my iPhone 3G and PCM via bluetooth paired and downloaded approx 2,000 contacts without issue. Took a while to move all the contacts the first time connecting.
Which iPhone? Have you tried deleting and re-pairing?
page 63 of PCM manual attached-- for reference and correct settings on PCM.

No PCM here - just the CDR-30 with Bluetooth...phone is iPhone 3G.

Then I don't think phone book sync is supported by the car. The CDR-30 may only support the hands free use of the phone if anything.
Bluetooth is just a way to wirelessly connect devices. For what purpose is a different question.
Does your car have a phone option installed that would take advantage of the bluetooth connectivity? Having bluetooth doesn't mean anything with respect to phone and/or contact usage.

If it won't support the address book then just mount the phone where it's easy to access. As these would -

Anybody have the steps to download contacts from iPhone? My 09 CDR-30 .. has the Download button. I have paired the phone and when I press the download option .. the radio searches for the contacts from the phone ... but I do not know what to do on the phone itself to get that to work. Anyone?

MY20104S here and I discovered there's a very limited memory in my PCM for contacts. It downloaded them fine, but I want to say I was limited to a few hundred. Very disappointing.

Bluetooth is a communications mechanism - like WiFi - and must be use in conjunction with some end application to be useful. The presence of a blue tooth transceiver doesn't mean you can do anything useful with it or that its hooked up to any other software.
For contacts, you need to have a car with a 'phone option' installed... because that's what the contacts are used for. (not sure if navigation allows access to phone book addresses)

What would a CDR unit do with contacts exactly? Is that pairing not just for doing audio streaming? What blue tooth profiles does that CDR-30 unit support? I suppose it is supporting the hands free profile to allow your phone to use the cars audio system, but a mic would need to be installed in the car from the factory as well (ie a phone option was speced). Or does it just display caller info and ringer tones?
Porsche's docs on the subject are here: http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...ice/bluetooth/
It describes the pairing process.
