Unhappy Missed my plane today...

...stuck on 18 lane highway for an hour. Would have been sooner but couldn't work out what number 1 800 PORSCHE actually was on my BlackBerry

Was this a blowout or a puncture? How did it happen?

everything was fine, doing about 8omph then heard a rumbling, car started shuddering, managed to steer across to the side of road. Didn't see any penetration of the tire at all - no nails or anything,

For next time: you can actually dial using letters on a Blackberry! (Might need the ALT key? hmm)

You're fortunate that you had no separation of tire from wheel,--that often will take out the rear fender extension areas.

There's something strange with the inside rim bead. It almost appears that it shredded in that area. Also there's gunk inside the rim that indicates other stuff happened before.

The tire also seems to be worn in the center which is an indication of running under-inflated. Under-inflated tires are known to come apart just like this one.

Other way around...over-inflation wears the center.

Maybe it was on backwards? Kidding. What a bummer though. I had the same Blackberry problem many times. Look at the bright side: you are OK, the car is OK.

Tony center wear is over inflation...something most do on these forums.

Guys: I know it's counter-intuitive but on low profile tires, center wear is under-inflation. Just ask a tire expert. BTW, I know from experience... An expensive one.
