Default MY 09 Trunk Money Justification Thoughts

One question I would have is; granted the trunk money discount is unheard of for Porsche as far as I know, however, now the MY 09 is a full one year old, and as soon as you take possession it takes on a full year of depreciation. That could easilly eat up the trunk money discount. It would seem to me that in 2-4 yrs., the 2010 would still probably be worth $10k more. What do you think? Help me process this!

.... so wait for the 2011!

It will be hard to beat the 09 deals (imo)

Production volumes will be down, the Panamera will be in the showrooms, inventories will be lower (so there will be less fear or need to deal) and therefore I think 09 prices will be hard to beat.

Pickings must be getting slim by now, so If you can find what you want grab it. The 2010 car doesn't have any significant changes except it does offer a greater array of choices, and optimization, at this point.

I would just add that an '09 is at dealer invoice less 10K trunk money (or most of it), so depending on the car it's really about $20K off MSRP.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but Trunk Money is a factory sponsored incentive to attract buyers. In this case Porsche is offering 1.9% financing or $10K off, although the $10K off is not advertised.

Better decide fast, there is not much stock of MY09 left in certain color combinations. If you are not picky on the color perhaps you can get an even cheaper price after the MY10 cars are in the showrooms, but perhaps then the incentive from Porsche to the dealers will be gone.

Is there any discount at all when purchasing a MY10?

"Trunk Money" refers to manufacture incentives to the dealer that are not disclosed to the public (pre-internet days, at least) that the dealer may or may not share with the buyer.

I agree with Hobart that this is great time to buy a 09 if you find one equipped as you want. I just concluded a deal an hour ago for a C4S with almost all of the options that I would have specified if I had ordered the car, and only one that I would not have ordered.

My understanding is that it is only on 997.2, 10K on C2(S), 12K 0n C4(S) and that it ends this month.

I believe that the 1.9% is available.

As for the OP, you can chase deals for the rest of your life. Eventually you need to pull the trigger and accept the fact that someone, somewhere is eventually going to get a better deal than you. Just make the best deal that you can and live with the fact that you did everything you could to get into the car of your dreams at the best price.

Great time to buy IMO. I just took delivery of an 09 C4S coupe launch car Friday night. My only challenge is in getting my wife to like the sport bucket seats!

What determines the "launch car" label ? Equipment, color, build date ?

How would I identify a launch car ?

TIA for your response.

I was negotiating a deal on a MY09 C4S Launch car, at 18% discount and I got greedy. I lost the car.
But I was able to get a MY10 C2S instead, on my first color/options combination at a 7.5% discount!
This is my 5th Porsche, and I never heard of such an aggressive leeway.
So, go out there and get what you want fast, as I don't think these deals will last forever.....

BTW on the last trunk money issue in July if your credit score was high enough you could get both 1.9% AND trunk money. I got both and the Porsche Credit person said I was the only one she had seen get both
