Thanks guys.
Now Dan,....remember this is Irene's car, not mine. The Orange car is still my dream car and my DD. Then again I've only put on 4500 miles in 6 months!

Last year we bought one for the kid heading off to school - he doesn't like to drive so it stayed here. It's fun to drive, very reliable and ok in in the comfort area. Downsides I have with it are visibility, in the winter it's hard to see over the snowbanks on corners when pulling out into traffic. This year we've decided to put it away for the winter and drive the pig car (Cayenne).

I had a 03 Mini Cooper S. It was a great car, yes it can be bumpy, but that's just a small trade off for the great handling.

Mine had great resale value too. I bought mine new and kept if for only a year and put 17k miles on it and sold it privately for the exact price i paid new (at that time S' were hot cars and hard to get)

Good Luck,

Glenn

also very sorry to hear about the reason for the new purchase but it's great to see how psyched you are.

unfortunately, i don't see the cat theme emerging here. will you put paws on it? park it on the kitchen counter? kill birds and bring them inside with it? aftermarket exhaust that purrs? vanity plate ("minimeow")?

dave, i've got some real concerns here and i'm sure i'm not alone.

Hey Brendan,
I've already been vetoed on putting a paw stripe on the Cayenne. Go figure. I ordered some extra "meow" and "purr" stickers so hopefully she'll want some for the Mini. As for vanity plates, I'm trying to get "CAT BOX" for the Boxster right now!

I sold my '05 MCS when I bought my 997. The MINI was 75% as much fun as the Porsche for 25% of the price.

Congrats, Dave - sorry it wasn't under better circumstances. That'll be quite the stable. Any pics of the house now that you've populated it with all kinds of Porsche goodness?

Thanks Chris.
No pics but I already have plans approved (as in the Mrs.) to take the grassy area between our bow shaped driveway and the street and lay bricks down. This will become the designated trailer parking spot! We're also going to put up a nicer fence and some gates. I'll do a separate thread after I take possession of the thing, but here is a pic of the cool trailer I just bought from another PCAer. BTW, this is not my neighborhood as nice as it is!

I heard that Mini had an issue with their auto trany in earlier cars. Reverse gear would fail and BMW does not repair tranys in these cars. New one would set you back around $8000 or so I heard. Even was on the local news here in T.O. On a positive note: My buddy has had his Mini for a few years now. He loves it. At 6'3" he fits in it just fine. Good Luck
