My car is in for service and the service writer called to inform me on the progress of the recall ....
I ask what it is and he says it is a harness of some type but there is very little information about it. Anyone know what's the scoop?

PCNA uses the term "recall" broadly. It may in fact be a "service action" instead of a recall. They say recall because Porsche requires these service actions done on every car affected.
The service actions are typically quality improvement campaigns done to head off issues known to Porsche.

Some sort of brackets for the exhaust(?)- can't recall (no pun
) - but they did mine last time I was in.

No recall but there is a service action to add spacer washers to the bracket straps that mount the rear muffler/resonator. This will give the exhaust system some play and keep the welds on the headers from cracking.

i hope us guys with aftermarket center primary bypass's do not have header problems... would suck.. then again after i changed my tq on all those nuts to 18ft/lbs i have no vibrations and feels just like stock which would lead me to believe no problems... the pdf said vibrations felt and to check.. so im guessing if tightened too much=vibrations=stress=cracking.

The welds on various mufflers have a tendency to crack and need some play,--some relief,--to prevent the bands from failing.
(I was just going to be mean and say that the recall only affects the silver cars)

From what I remember seeing about that service bulletin, its because the old design of a hanger allowed the installer to tighten the pressure to anything they wanted.. so they could torque it really tight.. which lead to strain on the hanger and failure. The replacement has a stop in it that prevents the tightening beyond a certain point (limits force on the pipe, not the torque applied to the bolt). With proper care on the how you tighten the old hanger, its probably fine.
