Sorry to hear about the back. I had a similar situation but the 911 actually helped my back.

Best of luck on the sale and recovery.

I have 3 newly herniated discs L3-4, L4-5 and L5-S1 and I will not get surgery nor will I get rid of my 911. Its' just a little slower to get in and out, but once I am in, I'm good. Good luck .. feel better

Ah,--what's a little back issue. I'm fused from T10 to L2. I got more titanium in me than the car has! With the Adaptive Sport Seats I just adjust it here and there,--and then crank up the seat heat! Doing without a Porsche would do me in.

I've got a lumbar fusion as well. And my 6speed is rolling just fine.

Of course, I had the surgery long ago (cracked vert water skiing at 18, had surgery at age 22 once I was out of college), so it's all good for now.

Good luck with the back, and the sale.

All the disks missing that protect the three sciatic nerve group exits from the spine (too many years of too many G's in non ergonomic ejection seats). Bone on bone with lots of arthritus (sp). Surgery is not a real option as per Doctors. Like several have said I just get in and out slower. Have gone to PDK in the C2S with adaptive sport seats, heated of course. 5 speed in the Sc for the track but the Recaro race seats support my back very well. Bottom line is don't give up as once you do you are done and Recaro does not make a wheel chair seat.

I walk two miles a day regardless of the weather, work out as best I can 4 days a week, stretch several times a day and watch my weight. Sometimes the pain is such that I can't sleep at all but I will not give up. 67 two weeks ago and i'm off to the Porsche driving school Masters course next week. I cannot say often enough DO NOT GIVE UP OR IN.. .but be reasonable and enjoy every minute as best you can. Paul, did I say it right!

Paige, sorry to here this! I hope you will still be around the DE's and such. I have to say that if I can get in and out of a Porsche at 6'5" tall, bones all screwed together with rods and plates, a prosthetic leg and so forth anyone can....come on you can do it!

I have been referring patient's with neuropathy and back problems for a spinal cord stimulator. Relieves the pain. Look up the St. Jude Medical website for more info on the SCS. Don't sell it yet!

My back hurts just reading this tread. Glad to see the majority are still going to enjoy their cars. Good luck to all...

Dont give up dont ever give up (JV) dont sell the car till you know you cant walk. You WILL regret this
once you find relief. If you can afford a new one later then no big deal. But if you replace it with a AMG or something it will be cool for about 3 months. THen regret will set in.
Look at F4 pilot Jack. What we have is minor compared to him!!

Hang in there. I know lower back pain can be debilitating but there are a lot of medical options out there.

wow... im seeing a trend here..

I bought my 997 because i herniated my L3, L4, L5..

Had to give up golf, surfing..... doctor and MRI said never again

so sold the wagon and bought the 997S...

back is much better and now im starting to play golf ands surf again, but never as much... but I would have never gotten the 997 if i did not hurt my back

gold lining!
