My experience with a policy on a VW R32 was that they only covered the OEM wheels.
As silly as it sounds, they would not cover the after market BBS wheels I bought for the car.
However, the policy could be cancelled at any time, and I got the majority of my money refunded after about 1 year into the policy.

Supposedly, these wheel insurance coverages will not replace the wheel unless the tire is also affected and incapable of holding air.
