Fun Porsche toy car for wifey....anyone know vintage speedsters or other?
#31
+1 on going out and driving one. I drove a 550 spyder replica a few years ago. I was surprised at how fast it was (had a hot 356 engine in it). Not a lot of torque but very high revving and strong power in the high range. It was similar to a motorcycle except it had four wheels. Lots of wind, noise, engine oil and exhaust smells, etc. It was almost a race car in terms of experience. Really cool but not a relaxed car for touring.
This was a 550, maybe a 356 speedster is more civilised. I don't know you or your wife and don't know what you are looking for in terms of driving experience but driving one would be a good way to find out whether she really likes it or just likes the looks of it. Plus: the hunt is half the fun. Hope this helps.
