Default Best 997.1 options for XM and iPod

For those of you who have done this, what are the best integration options for XM and iPod? I do not want all the external gadgets stuck to the interior - I would prefer all of the controls to be through the standard PCM interface.

I have heard about the Dension Gateway 500 - and that seems to be good for the iPod, however, how can this be used to control XM? I'm sure it has an input that I can use for XM, just not sure how it would be controlled.

iPhone integration (sound through speakers and such) would be nice also, but the primary desire is XM and iPod through the existing interface.

Suggestions?

I recently installed XM radio using the factory kit from Suncoast. The antenna is installed under the cowl and is invisible from the outside. It's fully integrated with the PCM and works very well.

I also had my moBridge iPod kit re-wired to work as an aux input for my iPod. The iPod interface on the PCM was a major distraction while driving which is why I had it removed.

Any idea why the XM antenna in a 977.2 cannot be hidden away as with a 977.1? They have the antenna bumps on the roof, fore (targa )or aft (coupe)etc...quite unsightly.

For some reason they decided it wasn't worth their time to engineer a clean installation. Perhaps because XM isn't available in Europe?

Understood but bizarre. My Cayenne xm is invisible...as is the 977.1 retrofit, as I understand it to be here. I wonder if a Porsche dealer installed xm module in a 977.2 can place the antenna under the cowl...asking because Im considering a Targa.

I believe the XM kit is based on old Cayenne parts as it was never a factory option for the 997.1. So it follows it would use the same antenna system as the Cayenne.

Perhaps when they tried an under cowl antenna installation in the 997.2 it didn't meet some kind of performance benchmark? My radio cuts out now and then, but never long enough for it to be a real nuisance.

I don't believe there's a dealer installation kit for the 997.2
