I just paid $190 to have my broken PSE removed and an AWE catback/200 cell sport cat system installed.

I paid $500 at the dealership to have PSE installed on my 2006. Bought the parts from Sunset Porsche. The combined price was within $100 of the factory option (but was not available when I ordered my car) so I was pretty happy. Plus, it is under warranty.

Did you have the factory switch put in the cockpit so you can turn it
on and off?

For $500, they better have installed the switch.

No. I have Sport Chrono too, so the integration was to be pretty easy. But, it did not work out that way. I was literally the very first car to have it done in the USA back in March of 2007.

PCNA has since revised the kits.

I wanted it in the loud (sport) mode at all times, so I would have bypassed the switch anyways.

I had quotes from most dealerships in my area for about $1,200 for just the install.

If I was going to keep it loud, I'd likely install an after-market system that is lighter weight than the PSE mufflers. $1200 for install is a total rip-off. I installed a PSE system with all the controls, as well as X51 headers, in less than a day, myself.

I agree, $1,200 was a rip-off, but that's what most dealerships wanted. And that's why I did not select them.

The dealership that I selected quoted me 4 hours at $125 per. I thought that was as fair as I was going to find. Plus, I wanted it under warranty, so an indy shop was out.

I got the actual parts at a great cost, since I was the guinea pig for the USA.

The problem with so many of the aftermarket pse systems (and there were very few in 2007 for a 2006) was drone and fit. What I mean by fit, is that Fabspeed for example extended below the rear bumper, and that was not going to work for me. I wanted a very factory and clean look.

I know a lot of guys can wrench their own cars, sounds like you are included. That's great. But I can hardly find time to drive mine and keep them detailed. That's about the extent of my car fixing skills!

I am sure your time is "worth" more than $100/hour...so the day you "spent" doing the PSE and X51 was more costly than you are accounting for. I know most people don't view it this way.

Actually, I really don't care about the sound of the exhaust, I just
like the look of the 4 rear tips.

I wonder how difficult it would be to purchase the Porsche
Exhaust Tips and have them welded on--for appearance only.

There are many exhaust tip options available. AWE, Fabspeed, Porsche.

As for the PSE tips, they are true dual exhaust, and are offset a bit. I'm sure they can be installed by a muffler shop

I hate to burst your bubble, but there are a few flaws in your wrenching logic:

1. That 4 hours the dealer quoted you would have taken you 2, and actually only took them 45min.
2. Unless you are a work-a-holic, or a billionaire, a Sat afternoon spent under your car actually saves you money.

LOL!

1) I watched them from start to finish. It took closer to 7 hours becuase they had so many problems.

2) On Saturdays, if I am not at one of my children's sporting events, I am hitting my favorite roads, since I only get a chance to drive the fun cars once per week. But when I go, I do at least 350-400 miles in one drive.
