If that is the case...go for it and forget what anyone else thinks. Now, if I can figure out how to be thirty again I wouldn't have to use so many darn pills....ahhh the days without Viagra, how I miss them.

I do own a home, and I am not in debt! I have an MBA, so know a thing or two about finances, I bought a nice house a few years ago, renting it out now and its rent is paying the mortgage and all the costs, and still leaves me $1000/mo, which can pay for the P-car.
I do absolutely make enough money to make the payments, by line of credit, I meant that I can finance this car at a much better rate than Porsche offers! Hence making it more logical to purchase.
Also, the cars I am looking at is around $60K... not talking $100K+.
My question was not if I am making the right decision buying an expensive car! IF I don't buy the Porsche, my next option is a used Audi RS4, which is 50-60K as well. The main question is, if people think of you differently driving a Porsche, while an Audi can COST THE SAME!
The answer seems to be yes! and it seems like I gotto have a second car (maybe keep the S4) for chores, driving around town, or when I do not want to get ppl jealous...

Maybe its because I am 50...but who the hell cares what anyone else thinks unless they are trying to give sound advice like dont **** away your money on cars. Not everyone who may be given this guy advice is because they are jealous! AFFORD this car....he using a line of credit! For crying out loud is this soul searching or growing up? Fatherly advice....take your money and buy a townhome. Line of credit for a 100k car...no wonder why this country is in the financial mess....unless there is bailout I haven't heard about for those who buy 100k cars they can't afford! Keep the Audi, buy a townhouse, get a lifetime soulmate, think about financial independence......and mature a little. My 20 year old has more sense than that! One last thing...do a little more soul searching and define how you measure "success"...its not by the $$$ you have nor the toys you have. There I said it!

I have a 2 beer story and I will try to keep it short. I own a business, which is a service business. I lease from a City. Everyone who I do business with can see my car where it is parked. I have owned 4 Porsche cars and it has cost me business. You somewhat loose your ablitiy to negioate a lease. People used to pay for the services and say here is your next payment on your car. I learned to reply that the car was paid for.

If that is the car you want to buy, buy it and be happy. Life is short and you have no control of what others think. If you feel you need to play it down and can keep the other car for your daily driver, do so. Not everyone has envy of a P-car or its driver.

While visiting Canada a couple weeks back there was a radio show that discussed how Canadians (generalization, anyways) are more aligned with individuals that are understated, more modest, happy to be 'average', if you will. The point being, well liked athletes, etc, in Canada are more reserved, conservative, less in your face. Being more boastful, going for the top, etc, can be viewed as negative traits.
In reading your post, and assuming the radio show in any way correctly characterizes Canadian sentiment, maybe the concern in driving a 'fancy' car, if you will, is more negatively perceived up North then in the States?
Still if you are buying the car because you enjoy driving, and not because of how you are seen in it (good or bad), then I say life is short, enjoy driving a fun sports car.

Don't know what part of Canada you're from, but I was in BC last week. As I was driving around in my rental car, all I could think about was, "wouldn't it be great to have the Porsche here." I live in Dallas and the roads are bad. The roads up there are really nice-lots of curves. I also saw a good number of Porsches too. As for your question, I believe it is like what colour to choose. You will have to make the choice based on what you know and value the most. What you do with your money is your choice. So, loan or cash is again your choice. All the best.

Do you really car what others think? Its a 997, which is a greta car but its not an untra exotic "look at me" car and the people who know you and know you're a track junky will understand why you choose to spend your hard earned dollars the way you do. I dont get worked up or even a whole lot of glances in a 997

Most of the people I know who drive Porsche could give a **** about what people think. Nor should you.
Anyone who gives you **** about driving a 911 is merely jealous and doesn't have the ***** to admit it. It's really that simple.

You're asking people you don't know personally, and who don't know you, to tell you what you want to do is okay despite your own stated reservations. You can learn a substantial amount about all matters Porsche around here, but I'd ask my family, friends, spouse, or SO for advice about how to live my life rather than an internet forum.
To be honest, the more I think about it, it's not as big a deal. I think Porsche did all of us a favor by making Boxsters that can be had for $25K now, and to a lament all Porsches look the same... so I don't think a 911 these days would be as LOOK AT ME, as it might have been 10 years ago.
