Default 997.2 C2S versus M3 DCT coupe - Nurburgring

Porsche C2S 7:50
PCCB, PDK, Sport Chrono Plus, Michelin Cup tires

M3 Coupe 8:05
Normal brakes (there is not ceramic option), manual transmission (no DCT for the test), Michelin PS2 tyres (not as sticky as the Cup tires the Porsche used)

Do you have more info for a time of the Porsche with normal street tyres ? I guess around 7:55

Or a time for the M3 with DCT ? I guess around 8:00

Your thoughts, comments, data ?

My comment is that the 19" Pilot Sport Cup is marginally better than the PS2. I've run both 235/305 PS2 and PSCup on the track and recorded basically the same lateral and braking G forces (and lap times). The issue is that the Cups they approved for Porsche are "reformulated" and "redesigned". They may look like a real cup, but the compound was changed for "better cold and wet performance" and the rain channels are 2x the width than on the real cups (Tire Rack posted a side-by-side photo here on RL showing this). So, I don't think there's that much difference based on my experience with the two tires.

Don't worry, the cars are in different leagues. 15 seconds is an eternity... just look 15 seconds behind the e92 M3 and you'll see the e46 M3's Nurburgring time.

The 997.2S without the cup tires ran a 7:58...1 sec. faster than the older 997.1 but it was a manual not a PDK. I thought with the PDK and cup tires it would actually be quite a bit faster than this, just goes to show you how even the older .1 cars are still pretty good. What also is interesting is the older E46 M3CSL ran a 7:50 with PSC's.

Yes but the CSL is pretty much the GT3 of the M3, so not really fair comparison unless you pull out the GT3 times for the 911 also.
