Once VW absorbs Porsche VW's Piech had plans to use WW as speed bump at end of VW assembly line.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Interesting. I have to say that he has single-handedly turned the company into a significant success story, and we all should be grateful for his talent. Interestingly, of late, vis-a-vis, the VW acquisition, it was all about money handling, and not building cars.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Porsche SE's embattled chief executive, Wendelin Wiedeking, is leaving the company, Germany's business weekly WirtschaftsWoche reported on Wednesday, without citing sources.

According to the magazine, a successor will be decided on shortly.

Until then, an interim executive should be found that has had management experience at both Porsche and its majority controlled subsidiary, Volkswagen.

A spokesman for Porsche SE declined immediate comment.

As I have said before - God help us if Piech takes over.

that would be the end of the 911, and more front engined cars! Sort of like when what's his name was running things before Peter Schultz.

Hope he does as well as Wagoner did with his government sponsored golden parachute.

It won't be the end of the 911.

It will give Porsche the ability to average their fuel economy into the VW fold, allowing them to keep full powered cars. That's important, look at what BMW is having to do, 4 cyl turbo power will be the new standard on the next 3 series.

What this will mean is that there will be a 4 cyl turbo roadster sold at a price point below the Boxster, which is exactly what Porsche needs right now. In this economy, their current cars are too expensive to sustain sales.

True but I think it has more to do with Porsche's profit margin than the economy.

The Cayman would beat the 911 around the track if Porsche put the 911s engine in it.

The rear engine layout is the albatross around porsche's neck.

How about a mid-engined GT3?

Half of what Porsche does with a late-model 911 is to compensate for the engine position.

Along the lines of the famous SNL Point/Countpoint skit.... I would have to disagree.

WW is solely responsible for bringing Porsche to its knees, primarily due to his enormous ego.
He is solely responsible for taking "the most profitable car company on the planet" to "verge of bankrupcy" in less than a year.
I will be grateful when he is gone.
