Default Center Console leather stitching

If your car has the rear console leather option (XMZ), is the storage bin lid also stitched?

I have seen a car with a leather console whose storage bin lid was plain, without stitching, lacking the stitching continuity... is the lid stitching only available on lids stamped with the crest or model designation (a separate option)?

I ordered XMZ on my 09 and the spec guide did not mention the stitching on the storage compartment cover. If it doesn't specify the stitching it isn't included. I ordered the model designation option (CUV) because I didn't want any unpleasant surprises.

The rear center console and the storage bin lid are separate parts. Ordering the rear center console in leather (XMZ) does not change the storage bin lid.

As near as I can tell, the storage bin lid has stitching on it only of you order a) the Porsche logo (CPT) or b) the model designation (CUV) for the lid.

Typical PAG gouging, isn't it?

One wants a leather interior and one orders 'full leather interior'. Wait... the rear console is vinyl... you order it. Wait... the gear shifter is not leather, you order it. Wait... the bin cover is not leather... you order it. And on and on....

And to top it off it's an incomplete offering. I may want a stitched leather cover without the embossed badge/model designation and apparently it's not offered.

I'm concluding also that if a part has no stitching it's vinyl.

Thanks for the info all!

Actually, the lid is leather, just not stitched or embossed on the rear storage unit.

So my rule-of-thumb 'no stitching, no leather' is not correct. I stand corrected, but even more confused.

You got it right. In order to maintain the continuity of the stitching line to the rear you have to order some sort of embossed treatment,--otherwise the stitching ends at the front of the center armrest in front of the compartment lid. This is one of the little tricky things about ordering these things,--and where members of Rennlist generally know more than any Porsche salesman.

Default Leather Console and Leather Gear Trim

ADias,
I highly recommened getting option CDZ (leather gear trim) to go with leather console (XMZ).
the leather gear trim is the small piece in front of the shifter boot.

I made the mistake of ordering full leather and the rear center console in leather but not the storage bin lid. If I could do it over again I would order more leather options.

You may also want the leather PDK shifter surround - XWU.

Nathan: Are you sure that you bin cover is not leather? Can you please check? Eric (Bumperplugs) says it is.

With any leather other than black or cocoa you have to stay on top of it. I suggest saddle soap and Hide Food.

Assuming that photo is recent... your natural brown looks brand new with a soft sheen. To maintain it that way technique is key. You have to teach us your technique - product brands and application method.
