Default Annoying Rattle from Rear Deck Area ('06 C2-S Cab)

I have about 23k miles on a 2006 C2-S Cab and have had the car into the local dealer (Beverly Hills Porsche) about four times to try to fix an annoying rattle/tapping sound coming from the rear deck area below the window. It appears to be coming from around the latching mechanism.

It is a high-pitched, high-frequency tapping sound and is quite annoying, you can hear it even with the stereo playing (loudly). The main issue is that it is intermittent and the last three times I have driven the 20 minutes to the dealer it mysteriously goes away before I get there.

In the past, BHP has tried to fix by insulating the 3rd brake light wiring and placing dampening material behind the rear seats, but to no avail. Of course there is no issue when the top is down, so that is my current remedy.

Has anyone had a similar problem? What was the fix?

Is speed a factor? Road condition? Have you tried to put the suspension on SPORT mode to help it to be worse? Does the frequency increase with speed?

Check to make sure the oil fill spout is secure.

Hey man, I know what you mean. I have been getting a similar sound on my 06 C4s cabrio. Do you use a wind deflector? Have you tried taking it off and seeing if the noise persists?

Top up or down?

Assume you know about the known problem within the roof liner, with the cross pieces jiggling. Noisy. Commonly replaced under warranty.

I have a similar problem and my dealers are a$$holes about it - they tighten a few things that mutes the noise, have 2 guys test drive it and note it on the form, and then as they present the form to me they make a big deal about the fact that they had 2 guys verify that it was fixed.

The noise comes back after about 40-50 miles of driving. I've just started to live with it b/c at this point that is less annoying than dealing with the dealer. Maybe I'll bring it up again this next service visit.
