'09 C2S vs '06 C2S

I have 5 track days on my 09 Carrera S. I have LSD in my 09 along with the sports suspension and PDK. On the track it is a great difference coming out of the corners.
my 07 997.1 S Sebring 2:36
my 09 997.2 S Sebring 2:30
6 seconds is huge on the track. PDK is making up for the slow Tip shifting and not being able to rev match and the Tip would upset the car is certain corners when I downshifted but the 997.2 S with Sport PASM and PDK is so much faster than my Tiptronic 997.1 S

moderato...
if you get the 997.1 for a great deal you wont lose much when you upgrade and at that time you can get a 997.2 cpo'ed after they depreciate..i have had a lot of bmw's but a porsche is really different..and i have driven the 997. 2 both manual and pdk, they are a little faster but imho not worth the wait nor the extra $$ unless you want to keep up with MDRUMS......on the track. on the street you will never reach the true potential of either car. I have the 05 Carrera S, and I can tell you without question if I had the extra money to spend on it I would be at the dealer right now ordering the 09 C2S with pdk. This comes from someone who is 100% satisfied with the current car in every possible way. The fact is the new one is better, and the 991 will be better, and the 991.2 after that will be better, etc, etc, etc. I am not even going to pretend that it isn't worth it because it is. That said I don't have the extra cash at the moment so I will remain satisfied in the car I have. If money were no issue it would not even be a point of consideration the 997.2 easily wins.

I own 06 C2s manual and 09 C2s pdk, lsd, sport chrono, sport suspension and I track them. The 09 is far far different than the 06. Different suspension feel, much more torque, and the pdk is a very unique experience. Is it worth $46k over the 06? I think so. Maybe not if your not interested in max performance and have no track intentions.

I have swapped my 08 C2 for an 09 C2S. Use is mainly daily commute with some track work (2x this year so far) and weekend blasts.
For me it's both the performance and convenience things that made the swap worthwhile. Coming from a C2 I got a bigger engine and PASM both of which you get benefits from every day. Brakes and wheels not so much obviously, althougth brake feel is much better even around town.
The convenience things I appreciate are MY09 things like the hill assist, the better PSM, factory bluetooth and ipod interface etc.
About the only thing I do miss from the 08 is the exhaust note change at 4000rpm, which you can enjoy around town every day but is just not there on the 09.
Overall though, a good upgrade.

FYI - ROW got a sport suspension option in the 997.1, but it was not PASM nor Sport PASM. It was just a sport coil-over suspension at -20mm ride height and I don't know that I've ever read good reviews of it.

I made a poor assumption then! I thought the LSD & -20mm option available on the ROW 997.1 was more or less the same thing we're getting now for the 997.2 with SPASM. I didn't realize it was a completely different setup, actually I'm pleased to hear that. Is the LSD the same or has that been changed also?

2:30 at Sebring is a serious # in a relatively stock, naturally aspirated, non-GT 911. I feel I might never get there in my 997S.1...I'm still screwing around in the 2:33's and 2:34's. From what I've seen the 997S.2 pulls like a 997.1 GT3 and the sport suspension is excellent.
mdrums & mkk62 - Are you guys going to the Chin Homestead event next Saturday? A few of us are heading down....they still have a bunch of solo spots open. Look forward to seeing you guys again soon.....btw, we'll also be at the SAFE event at Sebring on Aug 29th.
