Lightbulb Porsches are made for driving..

Congradulations, why did you buy a Porsche?

Read this before you go to school. When I drove for Jim Russells Racing drivers school, we did not have a book yet. We sold out all of the technique that we could get. Amazing that it is still in print.

Abe here is talking about the technique, go in slow come out fast. The Technique of Motor Racing, will tell you why in no uncertian terms. Most books on driveing assume that you have already learned Taruffi. No driver who has learned from it is going to tell you not to read it. You be the judge. This is pre-school stuff.

This is the essance of it, drive your Porsche all of the time. Porsches are made for driving, not detailing!

What Edgy says here should be carved in stone. Drive it everywhere, at all times, in all conditions. There is nothing like a Porsche.

Default Keep the revs high...

Many people run P-cars in the lower rev ranges and essentially lug the car and never experience the sheer joy of driving the car in the howling 4500 + range. Keep the revs high and enjoy! It's a blast!

PCA DE is the way to go. Those events are a phenomenal time not only for the track time, but also for fellowship with other Porsche crazed nuts, like yourself.

Also, you might also try autocross if you need a quick fix for some seat time. It's low speed, low cost, very safe, and easy to get into. We had our first event here in the Kentucky Region yesterday, it was my first chance to get toss around my new whip.

Assuming it is a 6MT, I suggest leaving the radio off for the first few months. This allows you better to accomplish the mind-meld with the engine.

Enjoy this one.. Drive it everywhere.. Do your best not to panic if it gets wet or gets a small parking lot ding. Now that you've joined PCA, GO to an event. Don't expect an invite.. realize every member was once like you (ie, brand new to owning a porsche and wanting to learn more).. oh, and start saving your money.. because 1 porsche is never enough

Congrats!

Also consider changing your direct deposit at work to go straight to Tire Rack. It'll just make things simpler.

Change gear between 3-4k rpm's for daily driving. Buy a battery tender if you will be storing the car over the winter.

Congrats... along with all these excellent reco's also try your hand at DIY. It's the flip side of p-car ownership enjoyment when you're not behind the wheel. https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ech-index.html Enjoy the ride!
