Default under engine tray?

friend said for the 996's they used to make trays for under engine to help protect the goodies from accidental damage from road debris/etc... ive seen diffusors for 997.2 but not 997.1...

does anyone know of a diffusor/under engine tray available for 997.1?

Seems like it would interfere with what the engineers intended. Since the bottom of the car is totally covered, I assume essential areas are left uncovered. Possibility of cooling, aerodynamics interfered with so the bottom of the engine stays clean and free of nicks? Not worth it, IMO.

There is nothing of this sort for the 997 engines. (only the skid plate that was previously mentioned).

Years ago Porsche encapsulated the 994 and 993 engines to aid in dealing with sound pollution issues. These inevitably were removed by owners in an attempt to solve many significant engine overheating issues that were manifesting themselves.

If Porsche believed strongly that this was needed for these engines they would install them, however extensive prototyping of this car showed that their engineering efforts were adequate. Adding anything else back there is (1) redundant and (2) adds to what is already an excessive rear weight bias.

yes... so you can "Protect your venerable oil pan!" according to Suncoast

not laughing at the concept, laughing at the really bad word abuse on the Suncoast site

then again, maybe it IS a sacred oil pan...
