Any suggestions on this 2008 C4S? / Asking Price vs. Mileage
Hi Everyone,
This is a great forum. I'm so happy to have found it.
I'm hoping to get some input from everyone as I'm looking to purchase my first Porsche. I'm looking for a (in order of preference):
1. 2008 911 C4S
2. 2008 911 C2S
3. 2007 911 C4S
4. 2007 911 C2S
With low miles, no damage/paintwork, clean DME (not quite sure what specifically 'clean' means though). Preferably White, Grey or Silver with tiptronic and navigation.
I found this car, a new 2008 911 C4S, Auto, White on Black (click here):
I'm hoping I can solicit some opinions as to what everyone thinks it's worth offering?
Incidentally, I copied all of the 2008 C4S and C2S listings from AutoTrader.com to understand the relationship between 'asking price' vs. 'mileage'. For the data that I collected (i.e. cars with < 15k), there appears to be no relationship from the scatter plot. In other words, asking price is indeterminate of mileage. Comments?

wow, nice graph! there is a website called truecar.com where you can find out exactly what others paid. This is based on actual sales data. It's very cool! I used it and found I got an exceptional price on my car. It actually let's you put all the options in and gives a bell curve graph. I think Adias originally posted this website. so, if the link doesn't work, maybe he can post the correct one. I think you could probably buy a new one for at least 20% off sticker in USD right now without haggling especially since it's tiptronic. Good luck and let us know!

You're probably going to want to simply find one with 10,000 miles or less (arbitrary, I know) with the options you want and negotiate from there.

I am not surprised that there isn't much price variation in your narrow mileage range. If you expanded it to 25 or 30k, then you would see more price impact from higher mileage.

All things being equal, the options more attractive to you make your offer more generous. As you have heard already, these cars have the potential of having up to $40k in options,--so I would not drive this down to just a Canadian Dollar issue.
