Can Dealer Install Nav in 997.2?
For a 997.2, is it possible for the dealer to install the Navigation Module for PCM (672)? I've seen a couple 2009's that are optioned the way I like, with the exception of nav.
For the 1st generation 997 navigation is listed in the tequipment catalog, but not for the second generation.
Thanks
Chris

I have been trying to do this for a few months. It seems that the parts are not yet available. If a factory equipped car has a nav issue, they don't replace the nav module they replace the entire PCM.
I have also been told that the "enable codes" are issued by Germany and are keyed to the VIN. They don't want to issue them to a car that didn't leave the factory with nav installed. I can see a $3K kit in the future. This is sad as all of the software is already on the PCM hard drive. All that needs to be done is put an option PCB in the PCM and install an antenna.

Yes, Suncoast has it and it's $4000, which is surely much less than at your normal dealership. I'm assuming they got past the VIN coded thing. Up until just recently, the word was no, you couldn't add it because it was coded to the VIN, but maybe for $4k plus labor, Porsche will let you have Nav if you didn't order it. Imagine, pushing $5k for navigation after the fact.

I think what Suncoast is showing is the complete unit, not a NAV add-on. I tried to add SAT radio to my 997.2, even scheduled an appt. to get it installed only to get the big surprise - can't be added. Apparently the 997.2 is a completely self contained unit that does not allow options to be added unlike the 997.1. Porsche apparently told dealers that they were going to allow modules to be pulled and replaced (with credit for the pulled unit), then changed direction. So, if there's an update, I'd love to hear it because I'd love to add SAT as an option.

yeah I assume that if enough folks want it as a dealer add on option that Porsche NA will find a way to make it happen correct? At 1st didn't the PCM 2.1 not have the option of NAV add on after the fact but then it was added later on if I am correct. Yeah give it time and I suspect it will show up but then again a Garmin Nuvi is less than $1,000 too as well as various add on in dash GPS/NAVs like Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, Kenwood which work just as good and better and can integrate bluetooth, nav, sat radio, Hd radio as well. Did it in my 09 Boxster and it wasn't difficult at all....Asked about factory Nav as I'd like to keep the car OEM if possible but am not against a $400-1000 upgrade vs $5k plus for a non factory dealer version IF available cause the later is almost armed robbery for it to cost that much! LOL
Thanks for the advice.
