the spoiler comes up at 75 mph, which is above the speed limit in most states, so we never need this, right??

Yeah,--that's the ticket!

Actually, you will find that the spoiler goes up at 75 ACTUAL mph, while it will go up at an INDICATED 77-78 mph. It will go down again at 30 mph ACTUAL or an INDICATED 32 mph. You may override this a bit by going about 50 mph (indicated) or lower and pushing the manual override (on) for the tail, and then pressing it again, holding it down for several seconds until the tail has retracted fully out of the air stream.
