That is just the cost of the CPO warranty.
However, if they find things that are not up to CPO specs, they have to correct those issues to be able to CPO the car. If the tires are shot, they have to replace them +$1,200...... if the 30K mile service has not been completed +$750.... and so on.
So it is not just the cost of the CPO, that makes it "too costly" to CPO a car that needs some work. This is why you need to have a PPI completed, so you can find out what needs to be done to the car.

Being that the factory warranty expires in a few months, they figure the odds of the car encountering said issues are slim. So why front the money to certify? Let the 3rd party extended warranty company front the bill.
I will try demanding they CPO the vehicle as a contingency to take delivery.
I will let you guys know what happens.
By the way, this forum is EXTREMELY informative. Priceless.

The $2k goes right to PCNA when the car is reported as 'sold'. Thats the 'insurance' part ( that's all warranties are, insurance policies).
Like Tim said, that's bare minimum.
Goes like this:
Car cost dealer XX
Car needs two inspections at 3 hours labor.
Add parts, tires, brakes ect.
Add mark up.
= selling price.
Parts sells Service the parts + what ever % mark up they charge. Service in turn sells the part and services at full retail. Thus the price of the car.
It costs real money to CPO a car peeps. That's the deal.

That makes sense. Now that I think about it, it concerns me that the dealer did not make the slightest effort to negotiate CPO'ing the car. Is it safe to assume they found a list of issues that need repair/replacement in the near future?

Ps. Porsche does NOT offer an extended warranty.
This is one of the most common misconceptions out there. If your car is sold to you with an 'extended warranty' .....welp..............hate to break it to ya, it ain't Porsche. That's for sure.
Enjoy.

Yea, I am aware of that. It would be through a 3rd party warranty provider. From what the dealership told me, they use a company other local dealers use and have used for many years. The details of the different warranty and their options have not yet been discussed. In fact, according to the sales manager, they will not give me pricing until we the deal is agreed upon and signed.
We'll see about that

What? Are you kidding me?

you need very SPECIFIC examples.
which particular car and what is the actual price, and rate before you can evaluate leasing used.
for example. if a dealer took in a 2 year old car (MY 2007) at a price = the residual price of the car in 2010. then your lease pmt would amost be zero. i just leased a 2 year old boxster for my friend, min drive off (first pmt + license) with monthly pmt of $<300 (that inc the tax). leased through porsche leasing. you got to work EACH deal out.

I just wrote a lease on an 06 997 for a client, the car has 34k miles and was CPO 3 year lease came in about 650 a month with 4000 dollar 968 in trade. If you founda car its easy to figure out the residual on it.
