Guys, like many of you I am concerned about tire noise in my 2009 C4S - the roar from the tires is a nuisance on longer drives. Let's keep the feeback coming. I am not married to the PS2 and would trade some performance for peace and quiet. I do not track the 4S it is my DD.

The issue I have with the RE11's is the load rating as well as the speed rating aren't up to the OEM tires. I know it's probably a mute point, but it did bother me.

Any idea of weight differential? Or reference link? Thanks.

A Pirelli Pzero N1 weights in at 29lbs for a 305/30/19 while the RE11's come in at 32lbs, while a 235/35/10 tire for the PZero comes in at 22lbs the RE11 is 27lbs!! A total of 16lbs of rotational mass. Also the RE11's don't have the right speed or load rating. The Re050's are a little better and they do have a N designation with proper load and speed rating.

You can go to www.tirerack.com they have all the specs there.

Just did over 350 miles on my new Bridgestone REO50's yesterday. It was my 1st real test w' the new shoes. Compared to the Michelins....I feel the REO50's are a much better ride all around. The car handles great & I could actually enjoy the Bose system after riding on the Michelins. The tire road noise is substantially better vs. the PS2's.

I just got my second set of PS2s as my timing as wrong on the switch. I'm waiting to run through two back sets and one front so that I can get a full set of the Bridestones. I am also considering getting 18" wheels (CIIIs) at that time. I bet the 18" Bridgestones would be even better. I will find out in another 20k I guess.

Bob, I had PS2s on my Carrera S. I ditched them for the Bridgestones. The tire roar on the PS2s was aggravating and tiring on a long trip. I avoided driving the car. Not good.

I switched to the Bridgestones and they are much better. The are 'softer' over expansion joints and don't howl on the highway.

It's a bonus they are half the price.

I have almost 14 k on my second set of rear Bridgestones and almost 28,000 miles (not a typo) on my fronts. So the decision for me is easy. I know, I don't drive it hard, and I would relish the thought of DE's, but I don't know of any in the Palm Springs area.
The decision for me next time will be Bridgestones, and the money I save could do a Geico commercial..

New season with the 'Stones on them and they are so far a great tire. My P-Zeros were really loud at end of life.

The other tire I'd go with are the Yoko's, FBL uses them and really likes these tires. Not sure exactly which ones, but they react well when driven hard.

I'd advise people now looking at tires to get "Stoned" The RE050's are up to N1 now.

What about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric? Showed up really well in a Tire Rack test against the Bridgestone and Michelin here.

Strangely enough, they also thought one of the strong points of the PS2 was their low tread noise while the RE050A could do with some improvement in that area. Hmmm...

I have a new set of RE50's on my car(less than 500 miles) and I noticed today that at exactly 39 miles an hour there's a hum/buzz that develops. It doesn't sound like it's coming from all of the tires, and it's only at exactly that speed. Will this problem wear away, or???? At all other speeds everything is quiet. I could easily live with it, but if you guys tell me it will get worse, I'll take the car back to the install shop.

THX.

Does this happen on all types of road surfaces?

I believe the answer is yes. The noise is there on different roads.

New tires can be quieter than the old tires that are being replaced. It's easy to be fooled into thinking that your new Bridgestones are quieter than your old PS2s. Will those Bridgestones be just as noisy as the PS2s when the Bridgestones have 10k miles on them?

I really like the PS2s and the way they let go in a controlled way. I also really disliked the Continentals - noisier than the PS2 and slightly unpredictable traction. I'll have to try Bridgestones just because I'm curious. If I don't like the Bridgestones, it will only be 6-9 months of driving on them. I've had Bridgestones on other cars (a Miata autocrosser) and loved them.

I have not seen that in terms of PS2. At least with my car setup and alignment, the tires hold, no squeal and then just let go. Nothing in between. Admittedly, this might have been a pressure issue.
