Default The Carrera SS

Check out this thread on Teamspeed: http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/997-...arrera-ss.html

In a nutshell, a Teamspeed member saw a 997 with "Carrera SS" on the back and posed a bunch of questions to the owner and then snapped a pic. Go read the thread.

This is priceless!!!!!

Here is the text but you'll need to go to the link to see the pic.

Saw this fellow Porsche driver somewhere in central Florida a few weeks ago on a parking lot
on a gas station and I went up to him and complemented his car. Here's how it went:

Me: What a nice car you have, that's Lapis blue right?

Him: Yup, you're right.

Me: Great color combo, car looks perfect!

Me again: I see that you have a wing in the back, where's that from?

Him: It's a factory wing...

Me: Oh really, didn't know Porsche did one like that *This is where I walk to the back of the car and
spot the Carrera S logo with another S not very carefully put next to it...

Me again: I've never heard of the Carrera SS, what kind of version is that?
Did it come like that from the factory?

Him: Yes, It's the Super Sport. It's a limited edition with more speed and greater handling.

Me: More speed and greater handling?

Him: Yes.

Me: Oh. (leaves)

Then we spotted him on the freeway 20 minutes later and managed to snap a crappy pic of it.

Priceless! That gaudy look is pretty common in other marques, but I guess there are some P-cars too.

Even Porsche recognizes that to put an "SS" on anything German is not wise!

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the thread. OK on a Chevy but not on German iron!

This just in: "Carrera SS Models For South American Market Only."

Dateline Zuffenhausen.

The rumors of a Carrera SS model are found to be true, but only for the South American marketplace. There continues to be interest in this "SS" model within the German expatriate communities of Brazil and Argentina.

So "PASM" stands for "Please Apprehend Suspect Mengele"?

No kidding - what idiot spends $110K on a Boxster, including $1326 for "progressive sport springs" after already spending $1990 on PASM? Wow... Best of all, that car's probably worth about $45K today, if that.

I'd love to find that $110k Boxster on autotrader. That car will be a major bargain when it gets sold used!!

This is the reason beer and an ordering guide do not mix.
