Yes I know this is not the turbo form. I currently have a '09 C2S that I am very happy with BUT as part of my "bucketlist' I have always thought of driving (translated as owning) a turbo, if only because it is the most powerful 911. Have owned a GT3 and unfortunately it had a sad ending of sorts. So the question: has anyone gone from a C2S to a turbo or the other way and if so why. Also the pros and cons generally of the turbo. I will answer the most obvious question up front, do I need one? NO. Can I fully exploit the power of the turbo? NO. Then why.... because I'm 67 have an eye problem that will only get worse and think I want one . That is certainly not a logical or practical answer .. so back to your comments. Thanks Jack

Me neither. Me neither. Me neither.

I'm 42 and could afford one. Don't know if I'll be able to afford one when I'm 52 or 62 or 72. I got a tip because I have shoulder problems. I love the turbo and the tip. Absolutely no regrets. The power is awesome and its very much a daily driver.

I didn't go from C2S and haven't driven a 997.2 C2S, so can't make comparison personally.

By the fact that you posted this question, you clearly should buy one to find out. I've never wanted a Turbo, don't like AWD in a sports car, don't need the boost for 0-60 or 1/4 mile (I don't street race). The C2S has all I need and want, for both street and track. It's understated (no badge on my C2S). I've had a 997S, 997GT3, and went back to 997.2S because it fit my wants and needs better than the GT3. I didn't even consider the Turbo - just not my thing.

Your answers are all too logical and true. I don't street race and when I do autocross and or De it is in this

I did the same thing, went from a C4S to a TT. It's a thrill ride, I doubt you will say it has too much power. It's there when you want it but will also drive like a 997s. It's the only car I've owned that will definitely put a grin on your face when you hit the go pedal. Buy it while you're capable of enjoying it.
I think you already made up your mind...Good luck

I don't own or intend to own one, but if this is the car you really like buy it, our time is finite; thus enjoy it if you can.

Just like they used to always say that you should own a convertible at least once in your life, you should also have had the opportunity to own and drive a turbo. Of course, unfortunately, the 997TT is not the most powerful Porsche 911 out there, but it's close enough perhaps for you. (Go check out a GT2). They're somewhat fun but then you also know all the negatives.

Great idea except I do want to leave something to my kids. In fact I'm thinking of delaying the Turbo idea, enjoying the '09 C2S and buying my son a Mazda Miata as a first sports car for a great son who is now mature enough at 40 to safely enjoy it.

F4, you only live once? Go buy one!

By the way, did you fly F4 Phantom's...is that the reason behind your screen name?

Yes Mike I flew them in the Air Force for many years. After 400 or so combat missions over multiple tours in VietNam I taught Air to Air combat. Finally quit flying two years ago( I had my own acrobatic airplane) when they discovered Macular Degeneration in both eyes , oh well I flew for over 43 years total and had a great time. Besides the C2S ( maybe a turbo, but beginning to think more towards the toy for my Son) this is my stress breaker. That is my white '83 Sc on Harris Hill Raceway
The turbo is still a player though, just got to find the right one
