Trying to decide between getting a used 2008 C4S and a new 2009 C4S. Other than $$$$, any great reason to go one way or the other? I've seen some good prices on 2008's. Anybody see any dealers giving away 2009's yet? Thanks.

997.2 C4S has:
New engine with 40% fewer moving parts (eliminated the IMS shaft which is a good thing)
+ 40 more HP
Updated PASM with Sport PASM available
DFI
PDK (if you are interested)
Larger Brakes
Improved PTM (Porsche Traction Management) for 4 wheel drive cars
While you can save some $$$ on a 2008, due to this current economic situation, you can also get a strong discount on 2009 cars, the likes of which we have not seen recently.

All the points above are dead-on. If you can afford it, the new generation is great leap forward. The bluetooth, iPod, new nav, etc. sounds like something insignificant, but trust me, when you deal with the car daily, those things make a big difference.

The new PCM interface is brilliant. The touch screen makes navigating through the menus a breeze: It's intuitive and extremely easy to use. The sound quality from the bluetooth is excellent.

It you're looking for a REALLY good deal wait until 2011 when the 991 is introduced and take a CPoed 2009 car off their hands. There will be plenty,--and most will have about 6000 miles on them.

Absolutely worth the difference if you are using it as a daily driver. The BT, XM, USB, PDK makes daily driving so much more pleasurable. No comparison, and I have had several 997.1 in the past. If its just a weekend toy and you will keep it for more than 3 or 4 years, then buying a 997.1 may be worthwhile.

At our PCA meeting at the local dealer last month, the service tech said that Porsche will authorize breaking into the engine for service on the 997.2 engines. This means that instead of the catch-all, "buy-a-new-engine" option when internals seem to have failed, you'll have some other options. To me, that's worth something. This also testifies to the significance of this new engine design.

I am also torn between the 2 as deals are great on 08's. In addition to all mentioned, the factory sat radio seems trivial but sounds way cleaner than any add-on.
