Default Scheduled Maintenance

Hi - I've got a few questions about scheduled maintenance on a 1996 C2S that will be due for 40k service soon:

1) Does it have to be performed at a Porsche dealer to avoid warranty issues?

2) Assuming yes, what's the going rate for 40k service (I'm in Long Beach, CA if that makes a difference)?

3) Assuming no, does anyone have a recommendation for a good independent Porsche shop nearby to Long Beach?

Many thanks.

Do you really mean a 1996 car?

Perhaps you mean a 2006. If so, maintenance should be done but there is no legal requirement to have that work done at an "authorized dealer." (That's been against the law in the USA for some time).

Can't help you in the LB area, but i'm sure many will jump in!

Whoops! Good catch.

Yes, I do mean a 2006.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I can recommend several good independent shops but they're all in central or southern Orange County. (GMG, Hergesheimer)

Have you joined PCA? The club is usually an excellent source of this kind of information.

I recommend Eurotech, but it is in LA (Pico, around Hauser, I believe).

I've had extremely good luck with Hergesheimer Motorsports. The owners are actually neighbors of mine and great people. They actively support the PCA and work exclusively on P cars and have been doing so for decades. I've also referred several other local P car owners and all have had great experiences.

If you use them... tell them their neighbor Christian Asis sent you.

I haven't used GMG but I've read good things about them and they also actively support the PCA.

Good luck.
