Default 2000 miles + new water pump

The Chef's took a 2000 mile road trip from Chicago to Hilton Head for a wedding. Stopped in Asheville for a stay at the Biltmore, but the pi**er was a broken water pump just as we were leaving Hilton Head on the Sunday morning. No warning at all just a low coolant light and a substantial leak. Local dealer was very helpful (thanks Don if you;re reading) but the part had to be ordered and overnighted. Pump, gaskets and serpentine belt were all replaced at just on 19,000 miles.

I guess if you're going to have car failure Hilton Head is a better place than in the middle of the Smokey Mountains. Sadly with lost time the Tail of the Dragon will have to wait for the next trip.

Sorry to hear that it negatively affected your trip. I had to have mine replaced at 9,000 miles two years ago. So far it has been fault free. Perhaps in another 50 years Porsche will learn how to design WATER-cooled engines!

This may be the reason why the DFI engines have a different water pump and pump setup.
